Upstate Kids Sale

This week I volunteered at the Upstate Kids Consignment Sale. This is a huge semi-annual sale that allows families to sell their gently used childrens’ toys, clothes and lots more while the public has a chance to shop a super sized yard sale.

This successful set of sales are held in the spring and fall as families change their childrens’ seasonal clothes and toys.  Babies and small children grow so fast that this is a great way to clean out closets and make some cash to shop at a super sale!  Plus, sellers have the option to simply donate anything they don’t sell to charity.

My job was to check toys and baby furniture against a lengthy list of recalled items.  I found it amazing how many different items were on that list.

Super Store Coupons

I love when the store coupon generator spits out coupons for me at the end of my shopping trip. It;s great when there are coupons for items you always use and interesting to see what other coupons you get. Last week at Ingles, I got one for a free Afrin, up to $6 value. It said try it free and so I did! Just in time too, because the lovely weeds and grasses and blooming like crazy . My hay fever/allergy symptoms are already bad.

Cleaning up my coupons

I admit I don’t clip my coupons weekly.. sometimes it’s only once or twice a month. But, I like to go thru my coupons just before the first of each month to pull out the soon to expire ones… I clip these together with colored clips and try to use them before their time is up.

I watch the weekly sales ads…I generally get ads for the 3 local grocery stores, 2 drug stores and Wally World. I just love using coupons on sale items, reducing the price as low as possible and preferably free!

Party Mix for Cats

Friskies has a new Party Mix Cat Treat that my four felines are crazy about. I cut a freebie coupon from the Sunday paper and picked up the product just because I love trying new items for free!

The kitten Riley loves to eat anything, while Goldie and Fuzzle are only a little picky, but Tom is really choosy. All of them loved the treats and begged for more. They climbed in the cabinet to get to the package. This week we bought some more and Goldie recognized the package and started begging again.

Coupon Clipping Crazy

I have been a long time user of coupons and love to use them to help lower my weekly grocery bill! It used to be that the only place to get coupons was newspapers and magazines and that’s still a great way to get them. But nowadays there are plenty of online sites for printing coupons; many company and product web sites offer promotions and coupons; and many stores offer them as well.

In my area, I have an Ingles, a Bi-Lo, and a Food Lion grocey store. The first two stores always double the coupon value and the first and third often have triple value  days.  This is a great  way to drastically reduce the price of an item.  I watch for sale items that I have coupons to save even more! These stores all have membership cards that offer more savings and create more coupons to use!

I love getting a free coupons- I mean a coupon to buy an item for free. It’s a great way to try new items and even better if it’s a product we already use!

Years ago, I belonged to coupon trading groups, so we could swap coupons. It was fun to meet new pen pals and get more coupons!
